About Me
- Fran Richardson
- Welcome to my blog!I'm a teacher in a beautiful, small, rural town. I moved here a few years ago, but I have taught over 20 years in this same small town that is now my home. My experience is in teaching second, third, and fourth grades with one year in sixth grade. I am always reading, learning, and reflecting on what goes on in my classroom. I love the work that I do with the parents, my fellow teachers, and most all-my students.I hope you will enjoy reading my blog.

The TOP TEN of ME
10) I am an only child who thinks we often get a bum rap. I wasn’t allowed to do any more than other kids. In fact, sometimes I was permitted to do less! I have always been used to being alone, but I never felt lonely until my parents both got older, became, ill, and I took care of them. Thank the Lord I have friends and work with a great many people who have become my extended family who supported me through all those hard times.
9) I f The Voice or American Idol ever knew how great I sounded in the shower… I’m just saying.
8) I LOVE the water and have always lived around it: ponds, a creek, the ocean, or pool.
7) I LOVE to read Southern fiction especially if one or more of the characters is a little odd i.e. crazy. Call it “realistic mysticism” if you must, but as Julia Sugarbaker once said, “This is the South. We put our crazy people on the front porch.”
6) My favorite book is Charlotte’s Web . My third grade teacher Mrs. Tyler read it aloud to us, and we didn’t do tons of activities and worksheets or take a test on it: we just drew pictures or put out heads down after lunch and listened. I loved it so much I wanted my own copy for my birthday, and when I turned 9, that was the book that my Daddy and I sat on the porch of a beach house in the evenings for an entire week as he read it aloud. That week is a gorgeous memory.
5) If I didn’t teach, I would want to do something else creative even if it didn’t always pay the bills. I imagine the Bohemian life of an artist or writer.
4) My secret fantasy life would be if I could take off and go live somewhere like Diane Lane in Under The Tuscan Sun or Russell Crowe in A Good Year.
3) I hate to see anything or anyone suffer.
2) When I was in school, I thought I was a pretty cool, well-rounded person with a lot of varied interests and activities. One day after I was out of school about ten years, I was picking up my father from track practice, and one of the high school girls my father coached asked me what I was like in high school. I was traveling down memory lane when she suddenly declared, “In other words, you were a NERD?!”
1) I LOVE MOVIES and will watch my favorites like Out of Africa, Gladiator, or Star Wars ( I told you I was a NERD) over and over again.
