Welcome to my blog!I'm a teacher in a beautiful, small, rural town. I moved here a few years ago, but I have taught over 20 years in this same small town that is now my home. My experience is in teaching second, third, and fourth grades with one year in sixth grade. I am always reading, learning, and reflecting on what goes on in my classroom. I love the work that I do with the parents, my fellow teachers, and most all-my students.I hope you will enjoy reading my blog.

Tuesday: Top It Off with A Blog Hop!

It's International Blog Hopping Day, and I haven't blogged or  hopped anywhere really. However,  I have been making some new graphics and art for school and experimenting with my Flip video by adding effects from befunky.com. I've spent most of a sometimes dreary day creating collages with objects that I have photographed, and I've become inspired enough to realize that this would be a great activity for the kids to get to know me and make some inferences  about me based on what I include in my collage. Sometimes the right amount of coffee just helps things CLICK!

I'm keeping up with my professional reading for the summer, I  also started reading Igniting A Passion for Reading by Steven Layne, and it has already moved me as much The Book Whisperer did two years ago. I'm not trying to sound like something from a nursery rhyme calling "The sky is falling!" about the lack of reading that goes on with both adults and children, but we are in the midst of a crisis,  folks, and I guess I'm glad to see that there are some folks who have a plan on getting us out of the mess we are in. When Layne shuddered about what may happen if we continue to get our news "from other sources," I nearly cheered because I also think it is scary that some ADULTS never read any news but rely on word of mouth from a talking head on TV. I don't want this for the kids I teach. I am going to enjoy reading this book.

Because it is a day to blog and hop, I will share some of the A+ Blogs over at Teaching Blog Addict. I will make it easy and share a link:

MY BELIEFS ABOUT TEACHING
